Summary of Functions
Coordinates the Elders Program, providing meals, social gatherings, and support services for Tribal Elders and Tribal Community Elders. Prepares and delivers meals, manages program supplies, assist with benefit enrollment, and supports funeral coordination for Tribal and community members. Serves as backup for transportation services and supports other Tribal programs as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Program Coordination and Meal Services
- Cooks and delivers meals to eligible Tribal Elders; plans menus in compliance with healthy nutrition standards and grant requirements.
- Ensures healthy cooking practices and consults with a dietician for special dietary needs.
- Maintains a clean and safe kitchen environment.
- Purchases food and kitchen supplies; maintains inventory and receipts.
- Provides food service support to other Tribal programs.
Records, Reporting, Grants, and Compliance
- Maintains confidential client records.
- Tracks weekly and annual meal counts and expenditures for reporting.
- Monitors program budget and prepares required reports.
- Applies for grants to support program funding.
- Prepares correspondence, reports, and invoices.
- Ensures compliance with privacy laws including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2.
Elder Support, Transportation, and Community Services
- Coordinates monthly activity calendars with Tribal programs.
- Assists with transportation and event coordination for elders.
- Maintains department vehicle and supports medical transport when needed.
- Assists with funeral coordination, including communication with families and funeral homes, and maintaining supplies.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervises the Diabetes Senior Coordinator and Elders Assistant (part-time).
Education
- High school diploma or GED required.
Experience
- Previous food service experience preferred.
Skills & Abilities
- Ability to work under stressful conditions with professionalism.
- Strong work ethic and empathy when working with elders.
- Ability to safely operate in a kitchen environment.
Other Requirements
- Food Handler’s Certificate, First Aid and CPR certification required.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Hepatitis A and B vaccinations required.
- Knowledge of elder dietary needs and basic medical awareness preferred.

Travel Requirements
Local travel required; occasional out-of-area travel and weekend work may be required.
