Duties
- Assist healthcare providers with patient intake, including collecting medical histories and documenting symptoms accurately
- Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures by explaining processes and ensuring comfort
- Support clinical procedures including medication administration, wound care, X-ray assistance, and basic life support when required
- Manage electronic health records (EHR systems) efficiently to ensure accurate documentation of patient encounters and treatment plans
- Conduct ICD coding for diagnoses to facilitate billing and insurance processing
- Perform basic physiology and anatomy assessments to support diagnosis and treatment planning in various specialties like internal medicine or geriatrics
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and outpatient medicine practices
- Proven experience in outpatient clinics setting
- Proficiency with EHR systems for documentation and data management
- Strong patient service skills with a focus on compassionate communication and efficient intake processes
- Ability to perform clinical tasks such as vital signs measurement, medication administration, and emergency procedures including Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Familiarity with ICD coding standards for accurate diagnosis documentation
- Experience working in urgent care, medical-surgical units, or internal medicine environments is highly desirable
- Capable of supporting inpatient care activities within hospital medicine or emergency medicine contexts
