In an environment of continuous quality improvement, the Director, Heart and Vascular is responsible for establishing and implementing strategies and tactics that will develop and continually enhance the business and market leadership of MHS. This position will take a lead role in developing and implementing a standard format for business development activity and facilitate the process across the health system. The Director, Heart and Vascular will lead business development processes to maximize the use of our resources. This position will be accountable for executing business strategies to increase volume, revenue and MHS's overall market share. This will be accomplished through aligning and connecting physicians and building relationships throughout the region that will be beneficial to the health system. The Director, Heart and Vascular develops and directs projects in conjunction with physicians, hospitals, ambulatory sites, other entities and outside management companies/consultants that target growth through volume, revenue and core market share. In addition, this position identifies, researches, and prioritizes new opportunities consistent with strategic goals of the strategy and business development division. Exhibits the MHS Standards of Excellence and exercises strict confidentiality at all times.
Job Functions:

Ensures capacity for new patient growth in both cardiology clinic and cath labs.

Ensures appropriate flow and utilization of cath labs for maximum efficiency of staff.

Responsible for patient flow that supports appropriate patient turnaround.

Supports Clinical managers in maintaining staffing levels aligned with hospital productivity standards and ensuring patient safety.

Responsible for processing of all payroll, invoicing and administrative tasks related to cardiology clinic and cath labs.

Recruits, hires, terminate and discipline staff as appropriate and in concert with hospital policies and procedures.

Working with leadership and clinical manager to promote a work environment that fosters employee development, promotes self-directed teams and establishes communication processes.

Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to cardiology clinic and cath lab, including physicians and staff involved therein.

Promptly investigates and effectively addresses complaints.

Identifies systems and processes for improvement that addresses customer needs.

Works with clinical managers and team to continually improve quality, service, and satisfaction.

Ensure appropriate capture of revenue through sound clinical and administrative practice and consistent coding and billing processes.

Manages expenses and revenues congruent with organizational and departmental budget projections.

In partnership with business analyst, responsible for collection of data and distribution of consistent and routine reports including, quality, financial and access.

Research and timely provision to Senior Director Service Line any information required for both operating and capital budget processes.

Mobilizes and distributes resources to implement business plans and achieve alliance to ensure outcome.

Has the authority and responsibility to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, discipline, direct, or recommend such actions by using independent judgment.

Completes and conducts employee performance evaluations based on direct observation of their employee’s job performance.

Granted authority to perform the supervisory duties and are held accountable for performing such duties.

Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.
Minimum Education/Experience Required:
-
Bachelor’s Degree in a business or healthcare related field.

Master’s Degree preferred.
-
Minimum of three years of experience in hospital management/supervision.

Minimum of three years’ experience in physician clinic operations and/or cardiac cath lab.
-
BLS and ACLS certifications required.
-
Maintains compliance in RQI required.

Knowledge of hospital billing and coding processes.

Exceptional grasp of revenue capture, especially for heart and vascular services.

Ability to integrate cardiology clinic and cath lab in to one united team, to include staff and physician alignment.

Excellent problem-solving ability.

Clear understanding of ACO or like models and what is required to position heart & vascular services for future.

Exceptional skills related to multi-tasking, delegating and staff development.
