Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Crew Leader specializing in mowing and grounds maintenance to join our dynamic outdoor team. In this role, you will lead a crew responsible for maintaining high-quality lawns, landscapes, and outdoor spaces across various properties. Your leadership will ensure efficient operations, exceptional service delivery, and adherence to safety standards. Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of grounds maintenance workers in mowing, landscaping, and groundskeeping tasks
- Plan daily work schedules and assign tasks to crew members based on project requirements
- Operate grounds maintenance equipment including mowers, trimmers, blowers, and other landscaping tools safely and effectively
- Ensure all work complies with safety protocols, company standards, and client specifications
- Perform plant identification to select appropriate materials for landscape projects and maintenance activities
- Assist with irrigation management to maintain healthy landscapes and troubleshoot irrigation issues as needed
- Oversee the operation of company vehicles and equipment during outdoor projects involving lawn care, landscape maintenance, hardscape installation, or construction projects
- Monitor crew performance, provide coaching or training as necessary, and promote teamwork and positive morale
- Conduct routine inspections of work sites to ensure quality standards are met and maintain grounds’ aesthetic appeal
- Support additional landscaping or gardening tasks including tree care, horticulture practices, or hardscape installations when required
Skills
- Proven experience in lawn care, landscape maintenance, gardening, and outdoor groundskeeping
- Strong supervisory skills with previous supervising or crew management experience
- Knowledge of plant identification, horticulture principles, and landscape design fundamentals
- Skilled in operating grounds maintenance equipment such as mowers, trimmers, irrigation systems, and hardscape tools
- Familiarity with construction projects involving outdoor spaces or landscaping elements
- Ability to operate company vehicles responsibly and safely in various outdoor environments
- Excellent leadership qualities with the ability to motivate a team and manage multiple projects efficiently
- Experience in irrigation management and troubleshooting irrigation systems is preferred
- Knowledge of tree care practices and grounds maintenance best practices is a plus
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with team members and clients effectively
- Physical ability to perform outdoor work in various weather conditions for extended periods
