POSITION SUMMARY
The Casino Bartender sets the standard for what a guest at the bar or on the casino floor is handed and how it arrives. The position pours and plates, alcoholic and otherwise, stays inside every liquor and food rule that applies, and adds to a room that is clean, safe, and welcoming. The bar is a compliance position as much as a hospitality one: the decision to pour or to stop rests here.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Beverage Service
▪ Build and pour drinks, alcoholic and otherwise, to the recipes on file and to NGG standards.
▪ Serve warmly, quickly, and professionally, and build real relationships with the guests.
▪ Work the point of sale accurately and settle guest transactions.
▪ Observe each cash-handling procedure and remain answerable for every transaction.
▪ Stay tight with the cocktail servers, the kitchen, and the casino team so service never breaks stride.
▪ Lend support to promotions, special events, tournaments, and entertainment on property.
Alcohol Compliance and Guest Safety
▪ Verify identification and hold to state liquor law and to responsible service practice in full.
▪ Track how much a guest has consumed.
▪ Refuse service where the law or NGG policy requires it, and notify a manager or security when a refusal escalates.
▪ Meet health department and liquor regulation without exception.
▪ Arrange safe transportation options for a guest who should not drive.
Bar Upkeep and Workplace Standards
▪ Hold the bar clean, orderly, and stocked to par going into a shift, through it, and once it closes.
▪ Replenish spirits, beer, wine, mixers, garnish, and bar supply as levels drop.
▪ Work the daily side duties and the deep-clean assignments on the schedule.
▪ Rotate and date product, and report breakage, spoilage, and equipment problems.
▪ Advance a constructive, team-first workplace and step in for coworkers when the need shows.
▪ Report on time, in uniform, and ready for the shift.
▪ Finish all assigned training, including compliance, safety, and refresher training.
▪ Use of a personal mobile device in the kitchen or anywhere on the floor is not permitted while on the clock; undivided attention to the job is expected throughout the shift.
▪ Take on further assignments as management directs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Experience, and Training
▪ High school completion or comparable experience.
▪ Prior work behind a bar.
▪ A valid Washington MAST permit together with a Washington food worker card.
▪ Applicant must have reached the age of twenty-one (21).
▪ Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Specific Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Required
▪ Deep knowledge across beer, wine, spirits, and cocktails, and of serving alcohol responsibly.
▪ First-rate communication and service instincts.
▪ Open to evening, weekend, holiday, and shifting schedules.
▪ Sound basic math and comfort handling cash.
▪ Works several tickets at once and stays efficient when the bar is deep.
▪ Reads a guest’s condition and holds a refusal with composure.
▪ Familiar with common allergens and the practices that prevent cross-contact.
▪ Presents a tidy, professional image and maintains sound personal grooming standards.
▪ Dependable attendance and on-time arrival.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Standing and walking for lengthy stretches are required. Lifting and carrying loads of up to fifty pounds (50 lbs.) is required, kegs, cases, and ice among them. Reaching, bending, stooping, and twisting occur often, as does repetitive hand and wrist motion in pouring and shaking.
The bar is loud and quick, with wet or slippery flooring, cold and ice exposure, and contact with cleaning chemicals. Availability for evening, weekend, holiday, and varying shifts is required.
