Description of Work
Doane University, a nationally recognized liberal arts and sciences university in Crete, Nebraska, invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of History for the 2026-2027 academic year.
Responsibilities include teaching 9 to 12 credit hours of on-ground undergraduate courses each semester. Courses to be taught include the introductory courses Western Civilization I (Fall) and II (Spring) and the History of the United States 1 (Fall) and II (Spring) and one course from the following list during the Spring semester: Modern Britain, Modern Russia, or Modern World History.
During the Fall semester, this position may also be responsible for a course in Doane’s LAR 101 First Year Seminar program, with the topic to be chosen by the faculty member. While teaching is the primary responsibility of this position, the successful candidate may also participate in service activities and assume limited administrative responsibilities, depending on the needs of the university and the candidate’s experience and interests.
This position begins August 10, 2026.
