About the Role
101 ART STUDIO is seeking a warm, responsible, and creative art instructor to teach beginner-level art classes for students ages 5–8. This role focuses on introducing young children to basic drawing and painting skills, as well as fun and developmentally appropriate handcraft projects.
We’re looking for someone who truly understands this age group — their emotions, learning styles, and creative potential. You will help children build artistic confidence while encouraging original thinking and emotional expression.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach age-appropriate drawing, painting, and simple handcraft projects (collage, cut-and-paste, mixed media, etc.)
- Deliver lessons that are structured but engaging, encouraging participation and creativity
- Support a calm and nurturing classroom environment where young students feel safe and motivated
- Prepare materials before class and assist with cleanup afterward
- Provide support for individual students when needed and help maintain group focus
- Collaborate with other team members and follow studio teaching guidelines
Requirements
- Minimum 6 months of experience working with children ages 5–8 (teaching, assistant teaching, camp, etc.)
- Understanding of early childhood development and how young children learn
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to lead a class independently
- Background in art, education, or a related field preferred
- Must be available to work a fixed weekly schedule (weekends and weekday afternoons)
- Fluent in English; Mandarin/Cantonese is a plus
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
Schedule
- Fixed weekly shifts required (including weekends and/or weekday afternoons)
- Nights not required
- No flexible scheduling; must commit to consistent availability
Benefits
- Employee discounts on studio classes and materials
- Supportive teaching team and collaborative work environment
- Opportunities to participate in art shows, curriculum development, and special events
To apply, please upload your resume and email samples of your artwork and especially any work related to children’s classes, if available to [email protected].
We’re looking for someone who not only teaches art, but truly connects with children. If that sounds like you, we’d love to meet you!
