Job Summary
Scott's Custom Jewelers is seeking a dynamic and strategic Jewelry Sales Director to lead our custom jewelry store. This leadership role requires a seasoned professional with proven experience in sales and management.
The ideal candidate will oversees the daily retail operations of our independent jewelry showroom and custom design studio. This role balances custom jewelry sales and repairs with standard store management, such as staffing, sales goals, and inventory, as well as the unique logistics of the custom jewelry design process. The director acts as the vital bridge between our clients, CAD department, and on-site bench jewelers to ensure a seamless, high-end experience from initial sketch to finished piece.
This full time position is salaried, not commission based - we're all on the same team here! We are open Tue-Fri 10-5 and Sat 10-4. No evening appointments.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily Operations: Manage opening/closing procedures, staff scheduling, showroom aesthetics, and daily security protocols for high-value inventory.
- Custom Process Pipeline: Oversee the workflow of custom design appointments, tracking timelines between client consultations, CAD approvals, bench production, custom jewelry completion, customer presentation and follow-up.
- Team Leadership: Train and motivate sales staff in both retail selling techniques and the technical vocabulary needed to explain custom design options.
- Vendor & Inventory Control: Manage loose gemstone and metal inventories, coordinate with casting or jewelry supply vendors, and curate the retail showcase.
Key Skills Required
- Sales Experience: Three years of full time sales experience, preferably in a luxury service or retail environment.
- Project Management: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple custom client timelines simultaneously without delays
- Interpersonal Excellence: Ability to communicate clearly with both creative artists (jewelers) and retail clients
- Jewelry Knowledge A Plus: Familiarity with the jewelry manufacturing process (casting, setting, metal types) to accurately quote prices and timelines to clients

Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
