MAJOR RESPONSIBILITY: The Graphic Design & Multimedia Coordinator supports Parks & People’s communications and marketing efforts by creating high-quality graphic design, multimedia, photography, video, and digital content. Working under the direction of the Communications Manager, this position helps bring Parks & People’s stories to life through compelling visual materials for social media, the website, email campaigns, print materials, fundraising initiatives, events, presentations, and media outreach.
The Coordinator is responsible for producing creative materials that align with Parks & People’s established brand, messaging, and communications priorities. This position provides hands-on design and multimedia production support that increases the capacity of the Communications Manager and strengthens the organization’s ability to communicate its mission and impact.
REPORTS TO: Communications Manager
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Graphic Design & Brand Support
a. Create visually compelling print and digital materials that align with Parks & People’s established brand identity.
b. Design social media graphics, infographics, reports, presentations, brochures, flyers, event materials, advertisements, signage, fundraising collateral, and other assigned communications materials.
c. Apply established brand guidelines consistently across communications platforms and organizational materials.
d. Assist with maintaining brand templates, visual assets, design files, and related communications resources.
e. Support campaign-specific visual materials based on direction provided by the Communications Manager.
2. Digital & Multimedia Content Production
a. Create visual and multimedia content that supports communications strategies, social media plans, and digital campaigns developed by the Communications Manager.
b. Produce graphics, photography, video, and other digital content for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, email, the Parks & People website, and other approved platforms.
c. Format and adapt content for multiple platforms while maintaining consistency in tone, visual identity, and accessibility.
d. Assist with content scheduling, posting, and campaign implementation as assigned.
e. Help maintain a consistent visual presence across digital communications channels.
3. Storytelling & Impact Communications Support
a. Translate program information, outcomes, and organizational accomplishments into visual materials that communicate Parks & People’s impact.
b. Support positive, community-centered storytelling through photography, video, graphics, layout, and design.
c. Create visual materials that help highlight Parks & People’s mission of sparking wonder through play, education, and nature.
d. Assist the Communications Manager in developing visual content that supports public awareness, community engagement, fundraising, volunteer recruitment, and donor stewardship efforts.
4. Event & Fundraising Support
a. Develop assigned promotional and event materials for fundraising campaigns, donor stewardship, volunteer recruitment, community events, and organizational initiatives.
b. Create visual materials that support donor communications, sponsorship materials, presentations, and impact reporting.
c. Coordinate with the Communications Manager and Development staff to ensure materials are accurate, timely, and aligned with organizational messaging.
d. Provide design and multimedia support for events, campaigns, and other organizational activities as assigned.
5. Creative Production & Asset Management
a. Manage assigned creative projects and production timelines in coordination with the Communications Manager.
b. Maintain organized digital asset libraries, including design files, photos, videos, logos, templates, and other communications assets.
c. Prepare files for print, digital publication, presentation, and distribution.
d. Communicate with vendors, printers, and external creative partners on assigned production tasks, as directed.
e. Stay informed about emerging design, social media, multimedia, and accessibility practices relevant to the position.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Multimedia Design, Visual Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 2-4 years of experience in graphic design, multimedia production, visual communications, or a related field.
- Proficiency in industry creative tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, and Lightroom.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating excellence in graphic design, photography, video production, or related visual communications work.
- Experience creating content for social media and digital marketing platforms.
- Excellent visual storytelling, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assigned projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to receive direction, incorporate feedback, and produce materials that align with established messaging and brand standards.
- Passion for community engagement, environmental education, parks, youth development, or nonprofit work.
PREFERENCES:
- Experience working in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
- Knowledge of Canva, WordPress, email marketing platforms, and social media management tools.
- Basic motion graphics or animation skills.
