We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Lead Pre-K Counts Teacher to join our vibrant early childhood education team. In this role, you will plan and lead classroom activities, and foster a nurturing environment that promotes the social, emotional, and cognitive development of young children. *You must be available to work a shift from 8AM-4PM (this is a standard Pre-K Counts day). If you are available to work additional hours, this is a plus!
*You will have 20 paid days off during the school year (holidays + 2 personal days)
*The first day of the school year is August 24th. We have a mandatory in-service day on August 21st. August 19th & 20th are designated as classroom preparation days to prepare for the school year.
*While the first day of school is August 24th, the start date for this position would be approximately August 3rd with a part time schedule until August 19th (15-20 hours per week). Up until the beginning of the school year, you will shadow, work with experienced lead teachers to learn the Pre-K Counts requirements, complete additional training, and become familiar with our routines, policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Follow all PA Pre-K Counts requirements (a sample contract can be emailed to you if desired)
- Design and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans aligned with early childhood education standards, including literacy, math, and social skills.
- Lead classroom activities that promote curiosity, creativity, and active learning among preschool-aged children.
- Manage classroom behavior using positive behavior management strategies to create a respectful and supportive environment.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum enhancements and participate in ongoing professional development focused on childhood development, special education, and early intervention techniques.
- Conduct Ages and Stages Assessments for children and hold (2) conferences per year with parents.
- Conduct parent engagement activities throughout the year to get parents involved in the program.
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding children’s progress, milestones, and any concerns related to child welfare or behavior.
- Ensure compliance with mandated reporting laws and maintain accurate documentation of child development assessments and classroom records.
- Supervise classroom staff and volunteers to ensure effective classroom management and delivery of high-quality childcare services.
- Network with Intermediate Units as required for any children requiring specialized services.
- Obtain 24 hours of professional development training per year.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field
- ECE Certification preferred (can work with you to obtain emergency certification if you do not have your teaching certification)
- Proven experience working with young children in preschool or daycare settings; prior classroom experience is essential.
- Knowledge of early childhood development principles, curriculum development, and classroom management techniques.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations for childcare environments.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with children, parents, colleagues, and community partners.
- Ability to implement inclusive practices for children with special needs or those requiring early intervention services.

Pay: $45,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
