The Role
Think of what the Claims Processor does as the "final underwriting" of a VA claim. Much like a mortgage loan processor, you are the gatekeeper, reviewing claims submissions for completeness, compliance, and firm standards prior to filing. You ensure that every piece of evidence - medical records, nexus letters, lay statements - is perfect before it hits the Veterans Benefits Management System (VBMS). You aren't just moving paper; you are playing an integral role in building a winning case for our veteran working alongside a team of VA Accredited Attorneys.
The Ideal Candidate
You are the person who catches the missing signature on page 42. You have a strong aversion to incomplete documentation. You take data integrity extremely seriously. You’re also digitally fluent and comfortable navigating complex digital systems. You feel a sense of pride helping those who served. Prior to finding this role, you had experience as a mortgage loan processor or a paralegal in a high volume transactional practice area. You respect that the big picture is made up of details and love being the protector of the details.
What You’ll Do
- Review and organize digital case files with surgical precision.
- Be the Veterans Benefits Management System (VBMS) gatekeeper by reviewing submissions for completeness, compliance, and firm standards prior to filing.
- Access, review, and manage digital case files within VBMS to support client claims still in development.
- Manage a high-volume caseload, ensuring no deadline is missed.
- Draft legal documents, correspondence, and client communications as needed.
- Maintain strict data integrity and confidentiality in compliance with VA regulations and firm policies.
- Collaborate with internal teams and attorneys to ensure a seamless veteran experience from onboarding to claim submission.
Specific Experience
- Because of its close alignment with this role, previous experience as a loans processor is highly preferred.
- Because this is a remote role, a minimum 50 mbps reliable internet connection is required.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines is required.
- Solid computer proficiency and the ability to navigate digital systems efficiently and effectively is required.
