Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Assistant Manager to join our retail team and help drive our store’s success. In this pivotal role, you will support the store management team in overseeing daily operations, ensuring exceptional customer service, and leading a motivated sales team. Responsibilities
- Assist in managing daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures, inventory control, and cash handling.
- Lead and supervise retail sales staff, providing guidance, training, and motivation to achieve sales targets.
- Oversee customer service standards to ensure a positive shopping experience for all visitors.
- Coordinate merchandising efforts, including product placement, pricing strategies, and stock replenishment to maximize sales.
- Handle employee orientation, training & development initiatives, and performance evaluations to foster team growth.
- Manage payroll processing, scheduling shifts, and maintaining accurate bookkeeping records.
- Support purchasing decisions by monitoring inventory levels and assisting with stock management using POS (Point of Sale) systems.
Experience
- Proven assistant manager or supervisory experience within the retail industry, particularly in grocery or general merchandise stores.
- Demonstrated expertise in retail sales management, inventory management, and operational oversight.
- Strong skills in negotiation, managerial communication, and team leadership.
- Experience with POS systems, cash handling procedures, and retail math including pricing and budgeting.
- Multilingual or bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse customer bases effectively.
- Prior experience with recruiting, interviewing candidates, and employee orientation is preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
