Job Description and Duties
Under the general direction of the Information Technology Manager II in the Application Development and Maintenance Office (ADMO), the Information Technology Specialist II (ITS II) mainly performs functions in the domain of Software Engineering Database Administration(DBA) and Development. The ITS II takes lead responsibility for architecting, designing, developing, and implementing information technology database systems supporting CDE-wide program units. The ITS II works cooperatively with IT staff and management in various program units providing Database Administration, development and analysis services. Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Acts as the senior database administrator and database architect responsible for the design, administration, security, and operational reliability of all departmental database systems. Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Administers enterprise SQL Server environments, including installation, configuration, patching, and version upgrades.
- Designs and maintains enterprise-wide database architecture to support scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Implements database security controls, encryption, auditing, and access management in compliance with
state standards.
Performs advanced database engineering functions to enhance data architecture, optimize platform performance, and support enterprise data strategy initiatives
Acts as the lead to design test methods, validation procedures, and execution plans to evaluate and test software functionality. Monitors and conducts audits of system capacity, performance and traffic analysis.
Keeps current with industry trends by independently reviewing technical literature, attending technical training, and doing Web research.

This position is headquartered in Sacramento and may be eligible for a hybrid telework schedule for eligible applicants residing in California. Currently, the hybrid telework schedule includes working remotely and working a minimum of 2 days per week in the office.
