Salary Structure: Exempt Base Salary + Commission and bonus program.
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated, empathetic, and detail-oriented Institutional Account Executive to lead our sales division targeting the Correctional (Jail/Prison) and Psychiatric/Behavioral Health sectors.
In this role, you will not just be selling "paper bags"—you will be selling safety, compliance, and risk-mitigation solutions. Our specialized paper bag products are engineered specifically for high-security environments where standard plastic, strings, and handles present severe hazards. Your mission will be to establish long-term contracts with state, county, and private institutional facilities to supply safe, durable, and compliant paper packaging solutions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Development & Institutional Sales
- Identify, target, and secure sales pipelines within state and federal prison systems, county jails, private correctional facilities, and inpatient psychiatric hospitals.
- Navigate complex, multi-layered institutional procurement processes, including Request for Proposals (RFPs), government contracts, and preferred-vendor bidding lists.
- Pitch to key decision-makers, including Wardens, Jail Administrators, Hospital Purchasing Directors, and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) officers.
2. Product Education & Consultation
· Conduct consultative sales meetings highlighting the safety advantages of our products, specifically focusing on anti-ligature designs (no strings, straps, or handles) and zero-suffocation risks associated with traditional plastic.
- Educate facility staff on how our multi-wall, heavy-duty kraft paper designs meet rigorous structural guidelines while maintaining a safe, weapon-free environment.
3. Account & Contract Management
- Manage the end-to-end sales cycle, from cold outreach and product sampling to contract negotiation and fulfillment logistics.
- Work closely with our manufacturing team to coordinate custom orders (e.g., custom sizes, printed safety warnings, or specific paper plies).
- Provide exceptional post-sale support to ensure facility compliance and timely re-ordering.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 3+ years of successful B2B sales experience. Experience selling to government entities, correctional facilities, medical institutions, or B2B industrial packaging is highly preferred.
- Purchasing experience within a correctional facility or psychiatric hospital environment a huge plus!
- Government Procurement Literacy: Familiarity with government purchasing portals, bidding processes, and RFPs.
- Exceptional Communication: Strong presentation skills and the ability to speak confidently with high-ranking institutional officials.
- Security & Compliance: Must be able to pass rigorous federal and state background checks, as site visits to correctional and psychiatric facilities will be required.
- Travel: Ability to perform car travel up to 75% of the time to conduct on-site product demonstrations and attend industry trade shows (e.g., American Correctional Association, behavioral health conferences).
Ideal Candidate Profile
- The Consultative Partner: You don't use aggressive, high-pressure sales tactics. You build trust by understanding the incredibly strict security guidelines of these facilities and offering solutions that make their staff and residents safer.
- Highly Organized: You can manage long sales cycles (often 3 to 9 months) and keep track of complex bidding deadlines without breaking a sweat.
- Resilient & Empathetic: You are comfortable walking into highly secured environments and understand the delicate nature of psychiatric and correctional rehabilitation spaces.

- On-Target Earnings (OTE): $90,000 to $115,000+ (Uncapped commission structure based on contract acquisition and volume). (this is base + potential commissions + bonuses)
