This is a Pharmacy Operations Manager position. For candidate screening, I would treat the residency, acute-care experience, and USP 797/800 experience as the key requirements.
Must-Have Screening Criteria
A candidate should ideally meet all of these:
- Pharmacy Education
- PharmD or BS in Pharmacy from an accredited institution.
- Residency
- Completion of a PGY1 or PGY2 Health-System Pharmacy Administration Residency.
- This is a significant requirement and should be verified on the CV.
- Pharmacist Licensure
- Current pharmacist license or eligibility for licensure in the applicable state.
- Acute-Care Hospital Experience
- At least 3 years of recent acute-care hospital pharmacy experience.
- USP 797/800
- Demonstrated experience with USP <797> and USP <800> requirements.
- Ideally includes sterile compounding, compliance, quality assurance, and environmental monitoring.
- Medication Safety
- Experience with medication safety initiatives, quality improvement, and safe medication-use processes.
Strongly Preferred
These would make a candidate particularly competitive:
- Pharmacy operations management experience
- Pharmacy Manager/Supervisor experience
- Experience supervising pharmacy technicians
- Staff scheduling and workflow management
- Sterile and non-sterile compounding oversight
- Regulatory/accreditation preparation
- Quality improvement initiatives
- Medication distribution and inventory management
- Experience working with physicians, nurses, and other interdisciplinary teams
- Experience developing policies, procedures, and pharmacy workflows
