Job Summary
The Children's Center at Purchase College is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Toddler Teacher to join our team for the 2026-2027 school year. The anticipated start date is August 19, 2026. Looking for a teacher to inspire and nurture the youngest learners in our early childhood education program (18 months to 2yrs). In this role, you will create a warm, engaging, and safe environment where toddlers can explore, learn, and develop essential skills. Your enthusiasm for early childhood development will help foster curiosity, independence, and social-emotional growth in each child. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum plans that promote literacy, math, physical activity, and social skills tailored to toddlers’ developmental stages
- Create a nurturing classroom environment that encourages exploration, creativity, and independence
- Manage daily classroom routines including diapering, feeding, nap times, and outdoor play to ensure safety and comfort
- Use effective behavior management techniques to guide positive social interactions and emotional regulation among children
- Collaborate with families to share progress updates, discuss developmental milestones, and address individual needs or concerns
- Incorporate early intervention strategies for children requiring additional support or special education services
- Maintain detailed records of each child's development, attendance, and classroom activities in compliance with licensing standards
Skills
- Strong knowledge of childhood development principles specific to toddlers and preschool-aged children
- Experience with curriculum development focused on early literacy education, numeracy skills, and physical education
- Proficiency in classroom management techniques that foster a positive learning environment
- Ability to work effectively with children, parents, colleagues, and specialists such as special educators or speech therapists
- Familiarity with standardized testing methods used for early childhood assessment when applicable
- Excellent communication skills to clearly convey information to families and team members
- Knowledge of Montessori methods or other early childhood education philosophies is a plus
- Experience with daycare operations, private school environments, or preschool settings preferred

Pay: $45,000.00 - $48,000.00 per year
