Job Description: Food Service Baker

Position Summary
The Food Service Baker is responsible for preparing baked goods according to company recipes and quality standards. This position ensures proper production levels, safe food handling, and an appealing presentation of bakery items.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare baked goods (bread, pastries, cookies, muffins, etc.) according to approved recipes and production schedules.
- Measure, mix, proof, and bake ingredients using proper baking techniques.
- Monitor oven temperatures and baking times to ensure consistent quality.
- Decorate, package, label, and display bakery items as required.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of baking areas, tools, and equipment.
- Follow all food safety guidelines, including temperature controls and allergen awareness.
- Track production quantities and minimize waste.
- Assist with inventory of baking ingredients and supplies; rotate stock using FIFO.
- Communicate with management regarding product needs, shortages, or quality issues.
- Support customer service needs as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of baking techniques and ability to follow recipes precisely.
- Strong attention to detail and product presentation.
- Time management skills and ability to meet production deadlines.
- Understanding of sanitation and food safety practices.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Prior baking or food production experience preferred.
- Food safety certification required or must be obtained within a set timeframe.
- Ability to work early morning shifts, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Stand for extended periods; frequent lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Work around hot ovens and kitchen equipment.
- Repetitive motions including mixing, kneading, and packaging.
