This position could be in Alpena, MI or Oscoda, MI. Pay is negotiable based on experience and talent.
The Prevention Specialist will collaborate with the Prevention Coordinator to implement violence prevention outreach activities throughout Hope Shores Alliance’s five-county service area including Alcona, Alpena, Iosco, Montmorency, and Presque Isle. Prevention activities will engage community systems and partners in education and will aim to encourage community action that supports increased prevention of violence against underserved or unserved populations. The Prevention Specialist will implement program goals as outlined in the project work plan and as directed. Prevention efforts focus on preventing and raising awareness of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. The Prevention Specialist will serve as a Hope Shores Alliance liaison in all communities served by facilitating trainings and presentations and will foster strategic partnerships with community partners. This position will understand and model the Core Competencies of Advocacy in their work with colleagues, the community, survivors, volunteers, and others.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties may be assigned
- Develop partnerships with identified community partners whereby project plans, goals, and objectives centered around the prevention of stalking, dating violence, domestic violence, and sexual violence will be developed and documented with related memoranda of understanding.
- Develop and facilitate trainings and presentations for community partners and community members, targeting key audiences as assigned and as outlined by prevention work plans and strategic plans.
- Develop and conduct trainings, presentations, and curricula with an intersectional lens.
- Collect community partner and stakeholder feedback to impact direction of prevention efforts through feedback surveys following presentations or collaborative meetings and/or on a biannual basis.
- Attend and actively participate in local, state, and national collaborative prevention meetings with the Michigan Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence and the state leadership team as assigned by MCEDSV.
- Collect data, record, and report all relevant activities of the grant project in the agency database and to the Prevention Coordinator using Systems Advocacy Tracking Forms, Community Presentation Forms in the database and in the Delta Monthly Report and Strategic Plans.
- Inform monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as required for grant compliance and as assigned.
- Serve and actively participate in one agency committee.
- Complete at least 24 hours of continuing education/training annually and attend all mandatory meetings/trainings.
- Maintain the strictest level of confidentiality in compliance with State and Federal confidentiality laws.
- Document individual activity in compliance with agency funding sources guidelines and requirements.
- Perform additional duties as prescribed by supervisor/administration.
- Utilize personal vehicle to travel to meet with community partners or complete outreach presentations/events

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must successfully complete agency onboarding within the initial 30 days of employment.
- Must complete internal New Service Provider Training equivalent programming and/or attend New Service Provider Training through the Michigan Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence.
- GED or diploma required, experience in related field preferred.
- Must possess or obtain Red Cross First Aid and CPR Certification within the first 180 days of employment (provided by Hope Shores Alliance).
- Must possess a valid driver’s license, personal vehicle, and valid insurance.
- Must pass Criminal History, Child Abuse and Neglect Registry, and State and National Sex Offender background checks.
