The Role: The Events & Engagement Specialist hosts Green City Growers pop-up events and will facilitate engaging, hands-on educational activities that connect participants to urban farming, sustainable gardening, and local food systems. These events will take place at customer and community sites throughout the Greater Boston area, with collaboration and support from the Green City Growers team. These experiences engage diverse audiences while introducing participants to Green City Growers, our mission, values, and commitment to quality and white-glove service. Event times range from mid-afternoon to evening. This role offers an exciting opportunity to help grow and shape Green City Growers’ Events & Engagement program, with significant potential to expand its reach, impact and offerings.
Key Responsibilities
Events and Engagement:
- Lead engaging, hands-on educational activities related to urban farming and gardening, such as herb potting, growing microgreens, and other interactive experiences while creating a welcoming, inspiring environment for participants of all ages, backgrounds, and experience levels
- Travel to customer and community sites throughout the Greater Boston area to host events and represent Green City Growers as an ambassador providing clear instructions and hands-on guidance during activities
- With the support of Green City Growers, prepare event materials, supplies and displays and coordinate on-site logistics, including set-up and breakdown
- Answer participant questions, track participation, and recommend improvements for future programming

Desired Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in event coordination, community engagement, education, hospitality, customer service, or a related field
- Experience executing events, workshops, or public-facing programs preferred
- Experience working with diverse groups
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds of event materials and supplies
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and comfortable driving a Green City Growers company vehicle to client sites throughout the Greater Boston area
- Interest or experience in gardening, farming, agriculture or environmental education is a plus
