Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, and implement a diverse calendar of activities tailored to residents’ interests, abilities, and health conditions, including memory care and assisted living needs
- Lead engaging recreational therapy sessions that promote social interaction, cognitive function, and physical activity for individuals with disabilities or aging issues
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as dressing, grooming, and mobility during scheduled activities to ensure comfort and participation
- Coordinate special events, outings, and community programs that foster a lively and inclusive environment
- Collaborate closely with nursing staff, caregivers, social workers, and family members to assess residents’ needs and adapt activities accordingly
- Manage activity schedules efficiently to ensure timely execution while maintaining flexibility for individual preferences or health considerations
- Provide counseling or support related to aging issues by offering companionship and encouraging participation in social programs
Requirements
- Proven experience in event planning within senior care settings or assisted living communities
- Background in nursing home or long-term care environments with a focus on Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, or memory support programs
- Strong understanding of recreational therapy techniques tailored for seniors and individuals with disabilities
- Excellent communication skills to connect effectively with residents, families, staff, and community partners
- Ability to assist residents with ADLs during activities while maintaining patience and compassion
- Experience managing schedules efficiently while balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of aging issues counseling and social work principles related to elder care is preferred
- Demonstrated enthusiasm for creating engaging activities that promote well-being and social connection
