Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. We are in need of candidates interested in weekends 9am - 1pm. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals with developmental disabilities and other special needs, ensuring their well-being and enhancing their quality of life. You will work in various settings, including group homes, assisted living facilities, and community care environments. Duties
As a Direct Support Professional, your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation
- Providing patient observation and monitoring vital signs to ensure health and safety
- Implementing care plans tailored to each individual's needs
- Supporting individuals in social activities and community engagement
- Assisting with medication administration as per prescribed guidelines
- Maintaining a clean and safe living environment through regular cleaning tasks
- Utilizing equipment such as Hoyer lifts for safe patient handling when necessary
- Documenting daily activities and progress in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Collaborating with healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care
Experience
Ideal candidates will possess the following skills and experience:
- Previous experience in caregiving or direct support roles, particularly in home health, respite care, or long-term care settings
- Familiarity with working with individuals who have developmental disabilities
- Knowledge of first aid and CPR techniques is preferred
- Experience in patient monitoring and observation skills
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting clients with mobility needs
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with clients and their families
