Mechanical Engineering Internship
At Everest Ice and Water Systems, we manufacture and sell the industry’s leading ice and water vending machine. Required Experience and Skills:
- GPA requirement: 3.2 or higher, must be currently enrolled in a mechanical engineering degree-seeking program, junior standing or higher
- Strong office/ Google suite skills
- Strong verbal and written communication
- Time management and prioritization
- Organizational skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- SolidWorks skills preferred but not required
- 3D printing/ additive manufacturing skills preferred but not required
- Project management skills preferred but not required
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assist in prototyping and testing of new parts/ assemblies, and equipment
- Utilize additive manufacturing by operating and maintaining in-house 3D printers
- Help to maintain the 3D printing schedule
- Update models and drawings when needed
- Help troubleshoot and diagnose machine failures in-house and in the field
- Perform failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA)
- Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement of the equipment
- Assist in refining the standard work documentation
Learning outcomes and competencies:
- SolidWorks 2D drawing and 3D modeling skills
- Gain experience in additive manufacturing and designing/ redesigning components so they can be 3D printed
- Gain knowledge of design considerations for both manufacturing and the end user
- Learn to work with suppliers to:
- Be receptive to their feedback
- Understand their capabilities and limitations to design parts that can be fabricated
- Gain experience working with the bill of materials (BOM)
- Learn about the supply chain, various materials, and their applications
