Advertised Job Summary
Under limited supervision, provides leadership, planning, coordination, budget management, and operational oversight for maintenance and operations at the University of South Carolina Health Science Campus (HSC). The position reports to the Director of Services and manages Health Science Campus maintenance operations, maintenance planning, preventive and corrective maintenance coordination, AiM CMMS utilization, work order accountability, inspections, customer service, and reporting. The position supervises the comprehensive campus maintenance operations team consisting of a Quality Control Manager, Maintenance Supervisor, Crew Lead, two Maintenance Technicians, and an HVAC/Controls Technician.
This position serves as the primary facilities operations liaison for the Health Science Campus and coordinates with building occupants in all HSC buildings, Facilities leadership, project managers, contractors, vendors, custodial contractors, in-house landscape staff, Environmental Health and Safety, and other University departments. The position manages the annual budget for maintenance operations, capital renewal/refurbishments, capital replacements, and ensures labor hours, material costs, building-related costs, and all expenditures are tracked through AiM and supporting fiscal processes.
The position is responsible for both the campus and building-level maintenance operations and coordination for systems including HVAC, controls, electrical, plumbing, life safety, emergency generator systems, automatic transfer switches, emergency power panels, high-voltage service coordination, building envelope, site conditions, and related infrastructure. The position coordinates closely with the Central Utility Plant team regarding chilled water to the Health Science Campus, including planned outages, unplanned interruptions, issue escalation, occupant communication, and service restoration updates.
