About us:
The Larry J Weiss Hospice House is a community-based social model for end of life care that is provided in a "home-away-from-home" environment for individuals (guests) who are unable to die in their own home. Resident care is provided by a combination of family members, volunteers and paid caregivers in collaboration with a medical Hospice team.
We are seeking individuals with a Hospice Heart. A well-independent, organized, service-centered, caring, empathetic, compassionate person who can provide personal care and companionship to our patients and support patients, families, and loved ones.
We serve individuals and their families during the advanced and final stages of a terminal illness. Our loving and compassionate team comes alongside patients, families, and other loved ones to facilitate comfort and dignity at the end of life.
These are part time positions. We have AM, PM, and NOC shift openings as we hire our first hospice house team. Pay is set at $18 per hour for all shifts. General Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Larry J Weiss Hospice House Manager, caregivers will provide assistance with house guests' everyday living activities from helping them get up in the morning, get dressed, eat, and engage in activities. Keeping the house tidy each day is also part of being a house caregiver as well as keeping up with the laundry. Caregivers will administer medications to House guests as directed by the hospice provider. Overall our House caregivers create the homelike environment for our guests to spend their final days in and aid in the care and comfort of our guests. Above all the physical tasks of a caregiver, they provide emotional support and compassion to the patient as well as their loved ones. You must have a very special heart to care for our guests in their final days with love and compassion.
Caregivers will receive training for all care of guests including medication administration. At hire, there will be many hours of training provided as well as ongoing training. Caregivers will follow a care plan for each patient and will need to document all care and medications administered.
Requirements for this position are:
No experience is required for this position, nor any license or previous training. It is helpful to have experience working with the dying or caring for anyone, but not required. You must have a caring heart, patience, empathy, and compassion.
Must be 18 years old or older.
All applicants considered for employment will have to pass a Federal background check in compliance with Nevada regulations for caregivers.
