Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Receivable Representative to join our healthcare finance team. This is an in-person position. The ideal candidate will possess strong medical billing and coding skills, with a focus on managing healthcare claims and ensuring accurate revenue cycle processes. This role involves handling medical collections, verifying insurance information, and maintaining precise financial records to support the efficient operation of our practice.
Duties
- Manage the billing and collection of patient accounts, ensuring timely follow-up on outstanding balances.
- Review and process healthcare claims using ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications to ensure accurate reimbursement.
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including health insurance knowledge, prior authorizations, and claim submissions.
- Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems to update patient information and facilitate billing processes.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding billing inquiries and payment arrangements while providing excellent customer service.
- Maintain detailed records of all transactions, payments, adjustments, and collections in billing software.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure proper documentation for medical records and coding accuracy.
Experience
- Prior experience in medical office billing or accounts receivable within a healthcare setting is required.
- Proficiency with billing software, Microsoft Office applications, and EMR/EHR systems is essential.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, DRG classifications, and healthcare claims management is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with medical collection procedures and health insurance policies will enhance effectiveness in this role.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail are necessary to manage multiple accounts efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills are vital for interacting with patients, insurance companies, and internal teams effectively.
