Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Certified Dietary Technician (CDT) to join our nursing home team. The Certified Dietary Technician will support the delivery of safe, nutritious, and resident-centered meals while working closely with the Registered Dietitian, nursing staff, dietary department, residents, and healthcare team.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of therapeutic diets, nutrition, food safety, and the unique nutritional needs of older adults. This position plays an important role in ensuring residents receive meals that meet their individual dietary requirements, preferences, and care plans.
Schedule
- Full-time (8am-4pm)
- Must work every other Saturday & Sunday
Responsibilities
- Assist the Registered Dietitian with monitoring and supporting residents' nutritional needs.
- Review resident diet orders and ensure meals are provided according to prescribed diets.
- Monitor residents for changes in nutritional status, appetite, food intake, and weight.
- Assist with nutrition assessments and documentation as directed by the Registered Dietitian.
- Follow up on residents with poor intake, significant weight changes, or other nutritional concerns.
- Communicate nutrition-related concerns to the Registered Dietitian and interdisciplinary care team.
- Assist with developing and maintaining individualized nutrition-related care plans.
- Monitor meal preferences, food dislikes, allergies, and special dietary needs.
- Assist with tray accuracy and ensure residents receive the correct meals and diet consistencies.
- Participate in meal rounds and obtain resident feedback regarding food quality and preferences.
- Assist with menu planning and ensure menus meet applicable nutritional and regulatory requirements.
- Support implementation of therapeutic diets, texture-modified diets, and other special diets.
- Maintain accurate nutrition-related records and documentation.
- Work collaboratively with dietary and nursing staff to address resident nutritional concerns.
- Promote excellent customer service and resident satisfaction with dining services.
- Follow all infection control, sanitation, food safety, and facility policies.
- Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities as assigned.
- Perform other duties related to nutrition and dietary services as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- Current Certified Dietary Technician (CDT) credential or applicable state-recognized dietary/nutrition credential.
- Previous experience in a LTC setting, nursing home preferred
- Knowledge of long-term care regulatory requirements.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with residents, families, nursing staff, dietary staff, and healthcare professionals.
