The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University (ASU) and the School of Computing and Augmented Intelligence (SCAI) seek a dynamic faculty member with industry engineering leadership experience along with engineering mentoring experience for a full-time Professor of Practice position, beginning as early as January 1, 2027.
The faculty members will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, developing curriculum, mentoring undergraduate and graduate level student engineering projects, and fostering student success in a global academic environment. A Professor of Practice should have the ability to teach in multiple areas across the industrial engineering and engineering management curriculum and body of knowledge, but specifically, courses focused on engineering project management, engineering economics, information systems, work analysis and design, operations research, quality control/management, probability and statistics.
A Professor of Practice contributes to the service mission of programs of the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering and SCAI through program development and improvement, student outreach activities, service on committees, and industry engagement activities.
Essential Functions
- Program and Curriculum Development:
o Design and/or refine course materials (online and in-person) to maintain ASU’s academic standards while incorporating global perspectives.
o Utilize instructional technologies and best practices to enhance the learning experience in various teaching modalities.
o Develop, improve, and enhance the overall Engineering Management degree programs.
o Teach and co-teach courses in-person and online.
o Deliver lectures and utilize ASU’s instructional platforms, like Canvas and other learning management systems (LMS) technologies.
o Facilitate active learning through discussions, assignments, projects, and feedback both in person and virtual environments.
o Provide mentorship as a Committee Chair, Co-chair, or member for student applied engineering projects in the Doctor of Engineering and Master of Engineering programs
o Provide timely, constructive feedback and maintain regular communication with students to ensure engagement and success online, in-person, and hybrid modalities.
