Job Summary
Overland Park Respiratory & Rehab Center is seeking a dependable, energetic, and compassionate Activities Assistant to support our resident activities program.
The Activities Assistant will help plan, organize, and lead recreational, social, educational, spiritual, and therapeutic activities that promote resident engagement, independence, and quality of life.
The ideal candidate enjoys working therapeutically with adults, brings a positive and patient attitude, and can encourage residents with varying physical and cognitive abilities to participate.
Responsibilities
Assist with planning, preparing, and leading individual and group activities for residents.
Encourage resident participation in activities based on personal interests, abilities, preferences, and care needs.
Provide activities that support residents’ physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual well-being.
Assist with special events, holiday programs, resident celebrations, outings, and community activities.
Escort and assist residents to and from activities throughout the facility.
Adapt activities for residents with limitations, communication challenges, or other clinical needs.
Build positive relationships with residents and learn their individual interests, routines, and preferences.
Maintain accurate attendance records and complete required activity documentation.
Assist with maintaining the monthly activity calendar and communicating upcoming programs to residents and staff.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous experience in skilled nursing, assisted living, memory care, recreation, education, childcare, or a related setting is preferred.
Strong communication, organization, creativity, and interpersonal skills.
Schedule
Daytime hours with occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays required for resident programs and special events.
Compensation
$17-$18 per hour
