Requirements
- Must be 18 or over
- High school diploma/GED or 1 year work experience required
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred
- Drivers License is REQUIRED
- Auto Insurance on personal vehicle is REQUIRED
- Vehicle and a valid motor vehicle inspection sticker is REQUIRED
General Duties
- Maintains and protects confidentiality of information relating to all consumers, family members and guardians.
- Adheres to the philosophy of TARC Policy and Procedure Manual.
- Attend and participates in staff meetings and workshops
- Communicates effectively with staff members, consumers, families, and other agencies and professionals.
- Ensures compliance of all federal, state and local regulations within the area of responsibility.
Specific Duties
- Monitors the health and safety needs of the individual
- Follows Plan of Care for each person, which identifies the specific supports to be provided.
- Is responsible for immediately communicating/reporting incidents of abuse and neglect, significant behavioral incidents and any changes in the emotional and health status of the individual to the appropriate person.
- Upon hire, each employee must successfully complete 16 hours of orientation, and CPR/First Aid if they are not currently certified and thereafter each DSP is required to complete 8 hours of additional training per year in job related area approved by DSS
- May be responsible for lifting, reaching, pushing, stooping, bathing, hygiene, cooking, cleaning, wheel chair assistance, transporting, paperwork and for any other assistance specified in the clients CPOC or required by DHH Licensing standards
