An ATM Service Technician Protection Officer is a trained armed security professional responsible for protecting ATM technicians while they service, repair, replenish, install, or remove Automated Teller Machines (ATMs). The officer provides a visible security presence, monitors the surrounding environment, and responds to potential threats to ensure the technician completes their work safely.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide armed protective escort for ATM service technicians.
- Conduct site assessments upon arrival to identify suspicious persons, vehicles, or safety concerns.
- Maintain constant awareness of the technician’s surroundings while ATM safes and cash compartments are exposed.
- Position yourself strategically to deter robberies, assaults, or unauthorized access.
- Maintain communication with technicians, dispatch, and emergency services when necessary.
- Monitor individuals approaching the work area and address security concerns professionally.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies according to company policy and state laws.
- Complete daily activity logs, incident reports, and service documentation.
- Ensure all assigned equipment, firearms, and communication devices are maintained and ready for duty.
- Travel to multiple ATM locations throughout the assigned service area.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Valid armed security officer license.
- Firearms proficiency and knowledge of use-of-force laws.
- Excellent observation and decision-making skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Professional appearance and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (if required).
Work Environment
- Outdoor and indoor work at banks, convenience stores, retail centers, shopping areas, and standalone ATM locations.
- Frequent travel between locations.
- Exposure to various weather conditions.
- Variable schedules including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
