Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Scribe to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in medical documentation, clinical confidentiality, and ophthalmology-specific knowledge. As an Ophthalmic Scribe, you will play a vital role in supporting ophthalmologists by accurately transcribing patient encounters, managing electronic health records (EHR), and ensuring seamless clinical workflows. Responsibilities
- Accurately transcribe detailed clinical notes during patient examinations, including patient history, symptoms, and physician observations.
- Assist ophthalmologists by documenting procedures, diagnoses, and treatment plans in real-time within electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Maintain comprehensive and precise medical records in accordance with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Support the collection and organization of patient data, ensuring all information is up-to-date and accessible for ongoing care.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure accurate documentation of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and ophthalmic procedures.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), ensuring compliance with data security standards and achieving HIPAA compliance at all times.
- Demonstrate proficiency in medical transcription, typing speed, and understanding of medical records management to enhance clinic efficiency.
- Uphold professional standards of confidentiality while handling sensitive patient information in high-pressure environments such as emergency room settings when applicable.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical office settings with a focus on ophthalmology or related healthcare fields.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and ophthalmic procedures.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems) and medical transcription tools.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
- Excellent typing skills combined with attention to detail for accurate medical documentation.
- Background in achieving HIPAA compliance within healthcare environments.
- Prior experience in emergency room settings or fast-paced clinics is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team while managing multiple priorities efficiently.
