Idaho Power — located in vibrant Boise, Idaho — is looking for a Tax Analyst to join our Corporate Tax team. It’s an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. What does a Tax Analyst do for us?
Under general direction, the Tax Analyst prepares tax-related compliance filings, workpapers, transaction analysis, and accounting entries on behalf of Idaho Power Company and IDACORP. Tax types include corporate income, ad valorem (property), kilowatt-hour, franchise, sales and use, public utility commission, possessory interest, fuel, vehicle use, irrigation, natural gas, and other miscellaneous taxes and fees.

A COMPETITIVE CANDIDATE WILL HAVE
Knowledge of:

Federal and state statutes (e.g. sales and use, property, federal and state income taxes)

Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

Authoritative guidance sources (e.g. IRC, Treasury Regulations)

General ledger accounting
-
ASC 740 (accounting and reporting for income taxes)

Identification of permanent and temporary book-to-tax differences

The principles of consolidation necessary for filing federal and state returns including the flow of a corporate tax return and how the forms are interrelated

State apportionment factors

Tax law structure

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:

Bachelor's degree in accounting
Preferred:
-
Master’s degree in accounting or taxation
Experience:
-
3 years of experience in business taxation
Preferred:
-
3 years public accounting tax experience with emphasis in business taxation
-
Regulated utility accounting or tax experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires working at a desk/computer for extended periods of time. It requires the use of office equipment, fine motor skills including typing on the computer, dialing phones, filing paper, and working in close proximity to other people. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Tax Analysts receive training in their specific area and perform progressively more difficult and responsible work. Advancement to Senior Tax Analyst is conditioned upon acquiring the necessary experience and demonstrating the ability to meet the qualifications and performance standards at that level.
The Tax Analyst is expected to attend 40 hours of continuing professional education annually to ensure a high level of knowledge and professional competence.
Occasional travel with overnight stays. Extended work hours as necessary.
