McClain and Co. is seeking a_ floating bookkeeper_. This position requires learning the processes for each accounting department to ensure availability when coverage is needed.
The floating bookkeeper candidate should be a versatile and skilled accounting professional who can move between different departments to provide temporary support, fill staffing gaps, or manage high-volume, short-term projects.
The core duties include accounts payable (A/P), accounts receivable (A/R), general ledger account reconciliations, and payroll, while also adapting to various software systems and workflows. Additional projects may be assigned as needed.
Salary is negotiable and will be commensurate with experience. This position is not hybrid, 100% on-site (in the office full-time, Monday - Friday).
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. Proficiency in Foundation and QuickBooks accounting software is a plus!
Responsibilities
- Efficiently manage multiple tasks in a complex, multi-entity environment.
- Utilize accounting software, including Foundation and QuickBooks.
- Performed accounts payable and receivables processes efficiently.
- Ensure accurate coding of invoices and assist with collections of account receivable payables.
- Ensure accurate payroll coding and data entry.
- Ensure compliance with tax laws for multiple states.
- Match expenses to statements and import data into the accounting software.
- Maintain accurate financial records and prepare reports as requested.
- Collaborate with team members and other departments to ensure financial reporting accuracy.
- Assist with month-end close and journal entry posting as necessary.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Foundation Accounting Software is preferred.
- Experience with Expense Management software is a plus.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel functions, macros and Proficient with Adobe.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data.
- Ability to work independently while also being a collaborative team player.
- Ability to handle large volumes of data.
- Exceptional time management.
- Problem-solving skills.
