POSITION SUMMARY: YouthCare is seeking a relationship-focused fundraising professional to lead our foundation and corporate grants program while managing a portfolio of mid-level individual donors.
Reporting to the Director of Development, this position is responsible for developing grant proposals, stewarding foundation and corporate funders, cultivating donor relationships, and leading annual giving initiatives that inspire supporters and grow philanthropic revenue.
The ideal candidate is an exceptional writer, strategic relationship builder, and collaborative fundraiser who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys balancing donor engagement with compelling proposal development.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Grants & Institutional Giving

Develop and manage a comprehensive grants program, including prospect research, letters of inquiry, proposals, reports, and stewardship.

Manage relationships with foundation and corporate funders through thoughtful cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

Maintain grant and reporting calendars to ensure timely submissions.

Collaborate across departments to gather program outcomes, budgets, and impact data for proposals and reports.

Monitor grant revenue, prepare forecasts, and partner with Finance to ensure compliance with grant requirements.
Individual Giving

Manage a portfolio of current and prospective individual donors using a relationship-based fundraising approach.

Develop and implement cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies that deepen donor engagement and increase philanthropic support.

Lead annual giving initiatives including direct mail, workplace giving, matching gifts, and other annual campaigns.

Analyze donor trends and campaign performance to inform fundraising strategy.
Collaboration & Department Leadership

Partner with the team to develop compelling fundraising content for appeals, newsletters, website, and digital campaigns.

Support sponsorship efforts and donor engagement to drive revenue for YouthCare fundraising events.

Maintain accurate donor records and activity within the CRM.

Collaborate with colleagues across the organization to identify funding opportunities, collect stories and outcomes, and foster a culture of philanthropy.

Participate in department planning, special projects, and continuous improvement efforts.

Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and psychologically safe environment for all staff, youth, donors, and stakeholders, where individuals feel respected, valued, and supported.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Five or more years of nonprofit fundraising experience with demonstrated success in grant writing and donor relationship management.

Experience managing foundation, corporate, and/or individual donor portfolios.

Experience managing annual giving campaigns and donor stewardship strategies.

Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
-
Strong organization, prioritization, and the ability to meet deadlines, impeccable follow-through, and multi-task management.
- Proficiency using a donor CRM (Raiser’s Edge experience preferred) and Microsoft Office.

- High School Diploma or GED.

Experience and credentials must comply with program contractual requirements, including but not limited to the Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) background clearance process and must be at least 21 years of age. DCYF Clearance must be maintained for entirety of employment when working with under-18 clients.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience prospecting and securing foundation and corporate grants.

Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience working with youth-serving or human services organizations.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Must be able to provide I-9 supporting documentation for employment.

Ability to provide a negative TB Test (results must be within one-year of hire date).

DCYF Clearance must be maintained for entirety of employment when working with under-18 clients.

Employees who drive YouthCare vehicles as a requirement for their position, must be at least 21 years of old, possess a valid Washington State Driver’s License, meet minimum safe driver criteria established by the agency and our insurance company which includes completion of Defensive Driving and 15-passenger Van trainings. Drivers under the age of 25 must have been licensed for at least 3 years and those operating vehicles with a capacity of 15 or more passengers must be at least 25 years old.

Ability to obtain a current Food Handler’s Card

Successful completion of pre-service training courses as required by contracting agencies. Training such as CPR & First Aid (Adult/Child), Bloodborne Pathogens, and Behavior Management.

PHYSICAL CONSIDERATIONS:

Ability to perform a range of physical motions, exerting up to 50 pounds. Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds; standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time, kneeling, squatting, and stooping; running for brief periods of time; and go up and down stairs.
