Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to veterinarians and veterinary technicians in delivering high-quality care to animals. Your passion for animal welfare and your ability to work in a fast-paced environment will be key to ensuring the health and comfort of our patients.
Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures by preparing the necessary instruments and equipment.
- Perform routine tasks such as cleaning and sterilizing instruments, maintaining a clean workspace, and managing inventory of supplies.
- Provide care for animals, including feeding, bathing, grooming, and exercising pets as needed.
- Utilize animal restraint techniques to ensure the safety of both the animals and staff during examinations or treatments.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and report any changes or concerns to the veterinary team.
- Assist with laboratory tasks, including collecting samples for testing and performing basic laboratory procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of patient information, treatments administered, and medications given.
- Educate pet owners on proper care practices, including nutrition, behavior training, and preventive health measures.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant or in a related field is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with veterinary terminology is essential for effective communication within the team.
- Skills in pet grooming, dog handling, and animal restraint are highly valued.
- Experience with veterinary critical care or laboratory work is a plus.
- Knowledge of equine care or dog training can enhance your application.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact positively with clients and their pets.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a busy environment while maintaining attention to detail.
