Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Commercial Electrical Superintendent to oversee and manage commercial electrical construction projects from start to finish. The Superintendent will be responsible for supervising field operations, coordinating manpower, ensuring quality workmanship, maintaining project schedules, and enforcing all safety and code requirements. This position serves as the primary field leader and works closely with Project Managers, General Contractors, clients, inspectors, and field personnel to successfully deliver projects on time and within budget.
The ideal candidate is a proven leader with extensive commercial construction experience, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
Duties
- Manage and supervise all field operations for multiple commercial electrical construction projects.
- Lead, mentor, and oversee General Foremen, Foremen, Journeyman Electricians, Apprentices, and subcontractors.
- Coordinate daily work activities to ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget.
- Review project plans, electrical drawings, specifications, and contract documents to ensure proper installation.
- Develop manpower plans, labor forecasts, and resource allocation for assigned projects.
- Coordinate with Project Managers regarding schedules, procurement, RFIs, change orders, labor productivity, and project progress.
- Conduct regular jobsite inspections to ensure compliance with company quality standards, NEC requirements, project specifications, and local codes.
- Enforce all OSHA, company safety policies, and jobsite safety requirements while promoting a strong safety culture.
- Monitor labor productivity and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Coordinate material deliveries, equipment usage, and subcontractor activities.
- Attend project meetings with General Contractors, Owners, Engineers, Architects, and Inspectors.
- Resolve field conflicts, design issues, scheduling concerns, and installation challenges while minimizing project delays.
- Verify installations meet project specifications before inspections and project turnover.
- Assist with project scheduling, commissioning, startup, punch list completion, and closeout activities.
- Maintain accurate daily reports, manpower logs, production tracking, safety documentation, and project records.
- Ensure all work is completed professionally, safely, and in accordance with company standards.
Requirements / Qualifications
- 10–15+ years of commercial electrical construction experience.
- Minimum of 5 years in a Superintendent, General Foreman, or Senior Foreman leadership role.
- Proven experience managing multiple commercial electrical projects simultaneously, including projects with electrical scopes exceeding $1million.
- Current State of Texas TDLR Journeyman or Master Electrician License preferred.
- Valid Texas Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Extensive knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), OSHA regulations, and commercial construction safety practices.
- Demonstrated experience supervising multiple crews, foremen, subcontractors, and field personnel on large commercial construction projects.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, specifications, and construction documents.
- Experience with project planning, manpower forecasting, labor scheduling, productivity tracking, and resource allocation.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with Project Managers, General Contractors, Engineers, Architects, Inspectors, Vendors, and Clients.
- Experience monitoring project budgets, labor costs, material procurement, and overall cost control.
- Strong background in quality assurance, inspections, and ensuring installations meet project specifications and code requirements.
- Excellent leadership, mentoring, conflict resolution, and team-building abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
- Experience using construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, PlanGrid, Viewpoint, or similar platforms.
- Ability to identify and resolve field issues quickly while maintaining project schedules.
- Experience managing projects in healthcare, education, industrial, manufacturing, hospitality, data centers, multifamily, or large commercial office developments is highly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current TDLR Journeyman or Master Electrician License.
- Experience with commissioning, startup, testing, and project closeout procedures.
- Demonstrated success managing commercial electrical projects with electrical scopes exceeding $1 million.
- Proven history of delivering projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and with exceptional quality.
- Experience developing and mentoring Foremen and future field leaders.
- Knowledge of BIM coordination and construction technology is a plus.
