Overview
We are seeking a professional and reliable Truck Driver to join our logistics team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely transporting freight across various routes, adhering to all safety and regulatory standards. This role requires a strong understanding of commercial driving, cargo handling, and compliance with FMCSA and DOT regulations. The position offers an opportunity to work with diverse types of trucks, including tractor-trailers, refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and roll-off trucks, ensuring timely delivery of goods while maintaining safety and efficiency.
Duties
- Operate various types of commercial trucks including tractor-trailers, refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks.
- Safely load and unload freight using manual handling techniques or forklift when necessary.
- Plan routes using GPS navigation systems to ensure timely deliveries while optimizing fuel efficiency.
- Comply with all FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, and hazardous materials regulations when applicable.
- Transport hazardous or dangerous goods following proper safety procedures.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo details, and vehicle inspections in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Perform routine vehicle inspections and report any mechanical issues for maintenance.
- Ensure cargo is secured properly to prevent damage during transit.
- Adhere to safety protocols during loading/unloading operations and while on the road.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients regarding delivery schedules or issues encountered during routes.
Qualifications
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for the type of truck operated (e.g., tanker, hazardous materials).
- Experience in truck driving including route driving, freight handling, and delivery operations.
- Proficiency in operating manual transmission trucks is preferred.
- Knowledge of FMCSA, DOT regulations, hazardous materials regulations, and safety standards.
- Experience with GPS navigation systems for route planning and navigation.
- Ability to handle manual handling tasks safely and efficiently.
- Familiarity with different truck types such as flatbeds, refrigerated trailers, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks is a plus.
- Strong understanding of logistics cargo handling procedures.
- Previous experience with hazardous goods transportation is desirable.
- Good communication skills and a professional attitude toward customer service and safety compliance.
