Position purpose:
To implement the three essential goals of the Church’s ministry to adolescents:
- Empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today.
- Draw young people to responsible participation in the life, mission, and world of
the faith community.
- Foster the personal and spiritual growth of each young person.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and maintain a comprehensive Junior High Catechesis program to
meet the needs of adolescents (6th through 8th grade).
- Assist in the planning and implementation of youth ministry evangelization
programs: weekly meetings, annual retreats, youth council, summer trips, etc. (6th
through 12th grade)
- Collaborate with the Director of Youth Ministry to develop comprehensive youth
ministry programs (advocacy, community life, evangelization, justice and service,
leadership development, prayer and worship, and pastoral care for our young
people).
- Maintain an active relational ministry with students and their families.
- Maintain a flexible work schedule averaging forty (40) hours a week including
evenings, weekends, and special occasions.
- Effectively communicate and update youth activities through bulletin
announcements, flyers, email, appropriate social media (Twitter, Facebook,
Instagram), and our website.
- Assist in keeping accurate records for student attendance, registrations and
permission slips, payments received, etc.
- Work closely with all faith formation and office staff to create a team
environment.
- Assist in organizing all storage facilities (classroom, closets, etc.) for youth
activities and implement a procedure for using youth ministry supplies.
- Recruit and train volunteers for faith formation and youth ministry activities
- Collaborate with clergy, staff, parish council, and the Office of Adolescent
Catechesis and Evangelization
- Perform other tasks as directed by Director of Youth Ministry.
- Abide by and enforce all safe environment compliance standards while working
with the youth of the parish.
- Attend necessary training at the Archdiocesan level.
- Attend at least one Archdiocesan Professional Growth Day per year.
