Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week Medical-Surgical/Telemetry travel assignment. The position focuses on post-operative care for orthopedic, spinal, bariatric, colorectal, and Level III trauma patients, with additional responsibility for medical-surgical overflow and telemetry monitoring.

Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of recent relevant MS/Tele nursing experience required.
- Previous travel nursing experience required.
- Active Virginia or Compact RN license in hand at the time of submission; no exceptions.
- Epic experience required.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association required.
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred.
- Teaching hospital experience preferred.
- Must be comfortable with a typical 1:7 patient ratio.
- Must be comfortable floating to other units as required.
- Must be willing to work every other weekend and holidays occurring during the assignment.
- Travelers must work two of the three winter holidays.
- Must pass the required telemetry/EKG assessment with a score of 80% or higher on the first attempt; no remediation is available.
- Candidates must have no prior license or background hits.
- Must meet the applicable travel radius requirement.
- All requested time off must be submitted with the initial application.
- Must be able to meet facility fit-testing requirements.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to post-operative and medical-surgical patients.
- Care for patients recovering from orthopedic, spinal, bariatric, and colorectal surgeries.
- Provide nursing care to Level III trauma patients and medical-surgical overflow patients.
- Monitor and interpret telemetry rhythms and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition.
- Assess and manage patients with cardiovascular, neurological, respiratory, gastrointestinal, orthopedic, and renal conditions.
- Administer medications including heparin, insulin, and cardiac drips as applicable.
- Manage peripheral IVs, PICC lines, central line blood draws, and blood product administration.
- Provide respiratory support including oxygen administration, nasal cannula, and other non-invasive airway interventions.
- Manage and monitor chest tubes, drains, wound care, and wound vacs as needed.
- Provide care for feeding tubes, ostomies, tracheostomies, and other post-operative devices as required.
- Monitor patients before and after procedures such as angiograms and hemodialysis.
- Recognize and respond to changes in cardiac rhythms and other emergent conditions.
- Participate in rapid response and emergency care when necessary.
- Maintain accurate documentation in Epic.
- Follow infection-control, isolation, and patient-safety protocols.
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care.
- Float to other units based on staffing and patient-care needs.
Pay: $2,200.00 - $2,500.00 per week
