This is a Temp-to-Perm Position.
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Litigation Attorney specializing in Real Estate and Probate law to join our Houston legal team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to handle complex litigation cases, provide expert legal counsel, and advocate passionately for clients navigating real estate disputes, estate planning challenges, probate proceedings, and related legal matters. Ideal candidates should have Mid-senior-level experience. Further, this person needs to be a self-starter, a critical thinker, and proactive. He/She should also be professional and able to take direction without reading into tone. Approx 1600 yearly hours billable requirement - one pro bono case per year required - (does not count toward billable requirement) - firm pays for all CLEs plus $2K training stipend and bar association membership. Big Law firm experience is ideal. Ability to generate book of business is a plus. No micro managing so candidates should be self sufficient. Assignment would start fully in office but will convert to a hybrid role. Firm culture is one of learning and service - big on volunteering and committed to training.
Responsibilities
- Manage a diverse caseload involving real estate disputes, probate issues, estate planning, and related litigation matters.
- Conduct thorough legal research using resources such as LexisNexis and Westlaw to support case strategies and ensure compliance with procedural law requirements.
- Draft and review legal documents including pleadings, motions, contracts, depositions summaries, and settlement agreements with precision and clarity.
- Prepare for trial by organizing evidence, developing case strategies, and participating in court depositions to advocate effectively on behalf of clients.
- Negotiate settlements with opposing counsel while maintaining a focus on achieving favorable outcomes for clients.
- Communicate clearly with clients regarding case progress, legal options, and procedural updates to foster trust and transparency.
- Stay current on statutory laws, regulations—including tribal law & regulations—and emerging legal trends impacting real estate, probate, employment law, securities law, personal injury law, and other relevant areas.
Experience
- Demonstrated experience in general & commercial litigation with a focus on real estate or probate cases.
- Strong background in legal motion preparation, trial preparation, contract drafting, and legal writing skills.
- Familiarity with court depositions procedures and conducting effective legal research using LexisNexis or Westlaw platforms.
- Prior law office experience managing multiple cases efficiently while maintaining high-quality client communication.
- Knowledge of procedural law principles combined with practical experience in legal case management systems.
- Excellent negotiation skills complemented by a passion for advocacy and problem-solving within complex legal frameworks.

Pay: $75.00 - $90.00 per hour
