Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled CAD Drafter/Designer to join our Engineering Team. The ideal candidate will create precise CAD drawings based on departmental specifications using SolidWorks & AutoCAD. The selected candidate will be working with the team of an Engineering Manager, Design Engineer/s, or Project Manager/s, and will provide support for Fabrication Drawing Packages, Technical Big Packages, drawing layouts, details, diagrams, P&ID’s, BOM’s, sketches, as well as translating departmental needs into clear and actionable designs/drawings that meet production requirements. This full-time position is based in Corona, CA
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed 2D drawings, fabrication packages, bid package drawings using SolidWorks/AutoCAD.
- Generate Sequential Assembly instructions, Installation drawings, Foundational drawings, lifting plans, Equipment loading and unloading illustrations by utilizing SolidWorks/AutoCAD.
- Create system schematics, P&ID’s, single line diagrams, system layouts, material cut lists, using SolidWorks/AutoCAD.
- Generate Assembly level Bill of Materials with sourcing details.
- Create detailed welding drawing with all welding callout and fabrication details.
- Develop detailed 2D drawings for Pipe spools for ASME and API applications.
- Generate detailed instrument lists for fabrication and procurement packages.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the drafting team and overall project objectives.
- Revise, update and maintain drawings and layouts based on feedback and design changes from engineering team.
- Support project timelines and communicate progress with team members.
- Deliver complete and accurate 2D drawing packages in a timely manner.
- Create complex finished designs from sketches, redlined drawings or from oral engineering presentations.
- Implement principles of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y 14.5-2018 (R2024)
- Team player and maintains clean and orderly work area.
Skills and Experience required:
- Associate’s degree or Diploma or Equivalent in Drafting, Engineering or a related field.
- 3 - 5 years of experience in SolidWorks/AutoCAD Drafting relating to Process Piping, Mechanical, General Layout of equipment, Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and Bill of Materials.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering a plus
- Experience with SolidWorks PDM is required.
- Great mathematical skills and fundamentals in geometry and trigonometry
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Experience with Sheet metal fabrication/manufacturing is a plus
- Working knowledge of supporting software: Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook
- A proficient knowledge of Solid Works, AutoCAD
- An excellent grasp of engineering and design principles and an awareness of the environmental impact of design ideas
- Strong ability to communicate with teammates on project blockers, updates on assignments, and overall responsiveness via email and MS Teams
- Appreciation for business demands and an understanding of manufacturing processes
- Excellent communication skills, Ability to read, write, communicate, and understand English.
