POSITION OVERVIEW
Tierra Encantada of Kirkwood is seeking a caring, energetic, and dependable Teacher to join our Spanish immersion early education team.
Teachers are assigned to a classroom and work collaboratively with the other teachers assigned to the classroom. Our teachers create nurturing, engaging environments where children can learn and grow through play, exploration, and meaningful interactions.
This position is ideal for someone who loves working with young children, enjoys being part of a collaborative team, and is passionate about early childhood education and language learning.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create a fun, nurturing, and welcoming environment for all children.
- Develop and implement daily activities that support curriculum and educational objectives and provide children with opportunities for learning and growth through play.
- Support the daily operation of the classroom, including scheduled activities, projects, curriculum implementation, lesson plans, classroom organization, décor, and cleanliness.
- Observe children on an ongoing basis and support their individual developmental needs.
- Implement Tierra Encantada's curriculum and lesson plans.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and leadership to prepare for parent-teacher conferences.
- Maintain engaging and developmentally appropriate classroom décor and learning environments.
- Build positive, respectful relationships with families and serve as a supportive teammate to parents as they help their children grow and develop.
- Communicate with families during drop-off and pick-up and provide appropriate updates regarding their child's day and development.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with teachers, cooks, float staff, administration, and other team members.
- Attend required staff meetings, workshops, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
- Complete all required state and company training requirements.
- Support center goals related to quality improvement and accreditation.
- Follow all health, safety, licensing, and company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must meet the applicable Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL) qualifications for a Teacher/Lead Caregiver position.
- Candidates must meet one of the approved education and experience pathways required by the State of Georgia for the position.
- Previous experience working in Early Childhood Education is preferred; one year of experience is preferred.
- Fluency in both Spanish and English is strongly preferred for this Spanish immersion position.
- Ability to complete all required licensing and company training upon hire.
- CPR and First Aid certification, or the ability to become certified within the required timeframe.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with children, families, and coworkers.
- A genuine passion for working with young children and supporting their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a classroom and center team.
- Must successfully complete all required background screening and fingerprinting prior to working with children, as required by Georgia regulations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to frequently walk, stand, climb stairs, crawl, sit, squat, stoop, bend, reach, kneel, rise from the floor, and twist.
- Ability to carry and lift 25 pounds or less, use repetitive or fine hand movements, and occasionally push, pull, run short distances, and carry and lift 25–50 pounds.
- Ability to maintain sufficient vision to monitor children's activities indoors and outdoors and sufficient hearing to respond to children's needs and maintain safety in a moderately noisy environment.
PAY AND SCHEDULE
- Full-time, non-exempt position
