We are seeking a friendly, dependable, and flexible Front Desk Assistant – Floater to join our early childhood education team. This individual serves as one of the first points of contact for our families while also providing support throughout the preschool as needed. The ideal candidate is organized, self-motivated, adaptable, and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment with young children, families, and staff.
This position requires the ability to balance front desk responsibilities with classroom support, ensuring the daily operations of the preschool run smoothly while maintaining a warm, welcoming, and safe environment.
Essential Responsibilities
- Welcome and greet children, families, and visitors with a friendly and professional attitude.
- Assist families during dismissal, including helping parents locate and pick up their children.
- Verify identification for first-time or authorized pick-up individuals according to center policies.
- Answer the front desk, assist visitors, and direct questions to the appropriate staff members.
- Provide classroom coverage during teacher absences, breaks, or as needed throughout the day.
- Give scheduled lunch breaks to teaching staff while maintaining appropriate supervision ratios.
- Assist teachers with classroom activities, preparation of materials, and daily routines.
- Stock restroom supplies and maintain clean, sanitized, and organized bathrooms throughout the day.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the front desk, hallways, common areas, and other shared spaces.
- Follow all health, safety, sanitation, and licensing regulations to ensure a safe environment for children and staff.
- Support special events, transitions, and daily operational needs as directed by the Directors.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Directors or Lead Teachers.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a preschool, childcare center, or customer service environment preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with both children and adults.
- Ability to multitask and transition easily between front office duties and classroom support.
- Dependable, flexible, and able to adapt to changing daily needs.
- Friendly, professional, and calm under pressure.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to actively supervise and engage with young children throughout the day.
- Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Pay: $12.00 - $14.00 per hour
