The Closing Agent as a liaison between financial institutions, title insurance underwriters, borrowers, buyers, sellers, and realtors by preparing, processing and closing insurable real estate purchase and refinance transactions.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Prepares each file for closing by reconciling the Closing Disclosure and/or HUD-1 by accurately entering the information obtained from appropriate parties into the title database. Prepares the closing package to be executed and verifies that funds have been received from the appropriate source prior to disbursing checks.
- Works proactively with the Title Manager or Licensed Agent to resolve title issues in a timely manner in order to deliver clear title to the appropriate parties. Effectively communicates status of title issues to appropriate parties as necessary until the title issue is resolved.
- Conducts closing of refinance and purchase transactions ensuring that all documents are properly executed and notarized. Travels to conduct closing transactions, including location of client's choice, realty offices, various branch locations, and other locations as necessary.
- Organizes, updates, and maintains closing calendar by scheduling and coordinating closing transactions with Buyer, Seller, Realtor, Lender, and/or Contract Closing Agent if applicable.
- Handles post-closing issues with files and also post-closing client questions via phone, e-mail, and title database.
- Updates tasks within the title database system for each file prior to closing and ensures that each file has been reviewed by the Title Manager or Licensed Agent within 24 hours prior to closing.
- Once closing has been executed, ensures that closing documentation is uploaded into the appropriate software program.
- Mentors new employees on duties relating to closing transactions.
- Actively pursues opportunities to develop outside business with new clients.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of financial services and/or real estate experience is required
- Title company experience is preferred
- Bilingual/Spanish speaking is preferred
Education:
Bachelor's degree in a business-related field, OR equivalent combination of education, training, experience, or military experience is required
Other Skills Required:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, to include Word and Excel
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with all levels of an organization
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including business writing ability
- Excellent time management skills and accustomed to working with deadlines
- Strong customer service orientation
- Must be able to multi task with extremely high level of accuracy
