About the Role
You're the right hand to the GM, helping keep every part of the restaurant running smoothly. You'll help build a culture that's fun, supportive, and aligned with our Vision, Values, and Big Five.
We believe that the key ingredient to a rockin' pizza joint is a vibing crew that never compromises on quality food, service, and cleanliness. The AGM plays a key role in training, developing, and supporting staff to keep energy high and the business thriving.
In addition to training and developing your team, you will help with scheduling, product ordering, and leading busy shifts. Our AGMs are always thinking about how we can make improvements, coming up with and leading projects to make our pizza, people, or both better!
To make the most of this opportunity, we're looking for someone who:
- Has 2+ years of AGM or GM experience in the food and beverage or hospitality industry is required. Quick Service Restaurant, or fast casual dining, experience is a plus.
-
Embraces and embodies the 2030 Vision, Company Values, Ian's Standards for Customer Service, Food Quality, and the Big Five (Awareness, Connection, Generosity, Dependability, Effort).
-
Is Food Manager (ServSafe or Learn2Serve) Certified OR able to complete the certification in the first 6 months of employment.
-
Is Safe Alcohol Server Training (ServSafe or Learn2Serve) Certified OR able to complete the certification in the first 6 months of employment.
-
Can stand and walk for long periods. To bend, crouch, and lift up to 50 lbs. To use ovens, knives, and other equipment of the business.
-
Feels comfortable working and learning in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant where the pace is fast and work may take place in hot kitchens, coolers, or freezers.
-
Has reliable transportation to and from the restaurant for a variety of shift times.
This isn't a "figure it out as you go" management job. From day one, you'll follow a structured leadership development program designed to help you become a great manager, not just someone who can run a shift!
Your development includes:
-
20-23 weeks of structured onboarding and training with experienced leaders across multiple Madison restaurants. This is typically broken down into ~10 weeks of operations training and then ~13 weeks of leadership training.
-
Hands-on experience leading operations, scheduling, product ordering, inventory, food safety, coaching, financial performance, and problem-solving.
-
Regular mentorship and one-on-one development with experienced leaders.
-
Leadership classes covering topics like de-escalation, unconscious bias, harassment and employee conflict, and more.
-
Ongoing feedback and coaching focused on helping you continue growing long after training ends.
Whether your goal is becoming an outstanding AGM, stepping up into a General Manager role, or taking on broader leadership opportunities as Ian's continues to grow, we'll invest in helping you get there.
Hours
Managers are salaried for 40-45 hours per week. If you've worked in restaurants before, you know that sometimes they need a little extra time. If you work over 90 hours in the 2-week pay period, you get paid for that time at your hourly rate.
About 20-30 hours per week will be spent in operations and 15-20 hours handling the behind-the-scenes magic like projects, admin tasks, and meetings. All Madison managers are required to have availability to work at least 1 late-night shift (10pm-4am) per week.
All schedules drop 3-4 weeks at a time so you can plan your life and your pizza intake accordingly!
The action happens on evenings and weekends! We'll need you in the mix for a variety of shift times and days. Open, flexible availability is a must. You'll tag-team with the rest of the manager team to support operations with Manager On Duty shifts, handle emergencies, and jump in when coverage is needed.
Location
We are looking to bring on dedicated managers to grow our leadership team in Madison. Training locations will vary, and final placement will depend on the needs of the business and your preference.
