Summary
The Albuquerque Academy is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Student Transportation Driver to provide daily transportation for students to and from campus. This position operates a transit van on a fixed route, ensuring students arrive safely and on time for the school day and return home after dismissal. Essential Functions

Safely transport students along established routes and schedules.

Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.

Maintain a clean, safe and professional environment for students.

Follow all transportation procedures and traffic regulations.

Report vehicle issues or route concerns promptly.

Serve as a positive representative of Albuquerque Academy while traveling with students and staff.

Communicate professionally with students, parents, and Academy staff.

Support the School and its mission, always maintaining a high degree of professionalism.

Foster and maintain a culture of mutual respect, equitable practice, and joy.

Demonstrate cultural competence and communicate and collaborate effectively across differences.
Other Responsibilities
-
Morning route: Students must arrive on campus no later than 8:00 a.m.
-
Afternoon route: Begins at student dismissal, approximately 3:30 p.m.

Split-shift schedule with time off between routes.
-
Additional afternoon, evening, and occasional weekend hours are available for athletic and extracurricular events.

Ability to work effectively with students and families.

Schedule varies based on Academy activities.

On call availability for other routes preferred.

Attend employee meetings as needed.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
Education
-
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience
-
Previous school bus or commercial passenger transportation experience preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
-
Strong communication and customer service skills.
-
Ability to work effectively with students, parents, coaches, and Academy staff.
Special Requirements
-
Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.

Dependable attendance and punctuality.
-
Experience working with students is preferred.
-
Ability to pass all required background checks, motor vehicle record reviews, and pre-employment screenings.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Physical Demands

Ability to perform vehicle inspections and safety checks.
