3-Axis CNC Mastercam Programmer
High-Level Aerospace Component Manufacturer
A high-level aerospace component manufacturer in the Houston area is seeking an experienced 3-Axis CNC Mastercam Programmer to join our team.
We are looking for a hands-on programmer with strong Mastercam and 3-axis vertical milling experience who understands how programs are developed, set up, proved out, and run on the shop floor.
The programmer will work closely with experienced CNC machinists to develop, troubleshoot, and optimize machining processes for high-precision aerospace components.
Compensation
$42.00–$55.00 per hour, depending on experience, demonstrated skill, and performance.
Candidates with exceptional Mastercam, 3-axis machining, aerospace, tooling, and process-development experience may qualify for the upper end of the range.

Schedule
Night Shift — Monday through Thursday
5:00 PM – 4:00 AM
10-hour shift with a 1-hour unpaid lunch
40 hours per week — Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off
Key Responsibilities
- Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam
- Develop programs for 3-axis vertical machining centers
- Program complex, tight-tolerance aerospace components
- Develop efficient roughing, finishing, drilling, and contouring strategies
- Select appropriate tooling and establish feeds and speeds
- Optimize programs for tool life, surface finish, accuracy, and cycle time
- Review programs for tool clearance, collisions, gouging, and machining efficiency
- Support machinists during program prove-out and first-piece production
- Troubleshoot machining and programming issues
- Modify programs based on machinist feedback and inspection results
- Develop and maintain setup documentation when required
- Maintain organized CNC program files
- Support continuous improvement of machining processes
Required Qualifications
- Several years of professional CNC programming experience
- Strong Mastercam experience
- Hands-on 3-axis vertical milling experience
- Strong understanding of CNC machining processes
- Strong knowledge of tooling, workholding, feeds, and speeds
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
- Strong understanding of G-code
- Ability to troubleshoot CNC programs and machining processes
- Ability to work effectively with CNC machinists
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple programming projects
Renishaw Probing
Renishaw probing experience is highly desirable.
Experience with probing for:
- Part location and alignment
- Work offset establishment
- Tool setting
- In-process inspection
- Dimensional verification
- Process control
Experience developing or modifying probing routines is a significant advantage.
Aerospace Experience
Aerospace and/or defense machining experience is preferred, particularly experience with tight-tolerance components.
Experience with aluminum, titanium, stainless steel, and other aerospace materials is a plus.
Experience with complex workholding, multiple setups, cycle-time optimization, and first-piece production is also preferred.
Working With Our Machinists
This position requires close collaboration with the CNC machining team.
The programmer will work directly with machinists during new-job prove-outs, first-piece production, troubleshooting, tooling evaluations, and process improvements.
We are looking for someone who understands that a successful CNC program must be safe, efficient, repeatable, and practical for the machinist to set up and run.
