Position Overview
A growing manufacturing company is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to support its tooling department. This position is responsible for machining, repairing, and maintaining precision tooling and mold components used in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
This is a hands-on role requiring experience with CNC equipment, blueprint interpretation, precision measurement, and machining best practices. The successful candidate will work closely with tooling, engineering, and production teams to ensure quality components are produced safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
CNC Machining
- Set up and operate CNC machining equipment to manufacture tooling and precision components.
- Machine metal, plastic, and composite materials to engineering specifications.
- Load, verify, and edit CNC programs as required to support production and tooling needs.
- Monitor machining operations and make tooling or offset adjustments to maintain quality.
Tooling Support
- Manufacture, repair, and modify mold tooling and production components.
- Perform emergency tooling repairs to minimize production downtime.
- Assist with fabrication projects supporting maintenance and manufacturing operations.
Quality Control
- Inspect finished components using precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, indicators, and gauge pins.
- Verify dimensional accuracy against engineering drawings and specifications.
- Report quality concerns and support corrective actions when required.
Equipment Maintenance
- Perform routine machine maintenance and assist with troubleshooting machining issues.
- Change inserts, cutting tools, and fixtures as needed.
- Help maintain equipment reliability and overall shop efficiency.
Safety & Teamwork
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE.
- Operate cranes, hoists, forklifts, and other material handling equipment when authorized.
- Cross-train across machining operations and support other departments as needed.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience machining tooling, molds, or precision components preferred.
- Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
- Basic understanding of CNC programming and CAM software.
- Experience using precision inspection equipment including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and indicators.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
- Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical work including standing, bending, twisting, and reaching throughout the shift.
Work Environment
- Industrial tooling and manufacturing environment.
- Regular exposure to machine tools, moderate noise, lubricants, coolants, and varying temperatures.
- Frequent standing, walking, lifting, and operation of manufacturing equipment.
- PPE required while working in designated production areas.
