Summary
The Derivatives Solutions Lead will be responsible for leading NTAM’s Overlay business and driving its growth. In this role, the person will work with distribution and trading to bring a derivative solutions platform to clients to meet their investment goals. The Overlay team will be required to develop, implement, and manage hedging strategies across equity, rates, currency, credit and commodity asset classes.
Responsibilities

Develop, structure and implement customized multi-asset hedging solutions for clients to achieve investment goals.

Drive operational capabilities across a full complement of derivative products.

Oversee the management of client portfolios and establish investment processes and operational controls that efficiently manage portfolio exposures and mitigate operational risk.

Present overlay solutions capabilities and services to prospective clients and drive NTAM’s growth in market share.

Collaborate with operations, reporting and performance to establish a support model which provides the required operational processes for derivatives trading and client reporting.

Review client performance and attribution to determine the effectiveness of the current investment process and implementation strategies and formulate any necessary changes to be enacted going forward.

Work with the Global Trade Desk to effectively and efficiently implement derivative overlay strategies.

Engage with sell-side coverage to further understanding of market developments and to source investment ideas.

Provide expertise and insights regarding derivative industry innovation and regulation to clients and internal partners.

Manage and foster an overlay implementation team which will research, construct and implement hedging strategies across asset classes.
Qualifications & Education

10+ years of investment industry experience
-
5+ years of experience as an Overlay PM or in a PM role where derivatives expertise has been attained.

Knowledge of modern portfolio theory and experience with utilizing an optimizer and risk model.

Experience with Aladdin, MSCI Barra or Axioma.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present ideas clearly and efficiently.

Bachelor's degree required.

MBA, CFA or other advanced degree is a plus.
Salary Range:
$191,900 - 335,700 USD
Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
