Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Lead Teacher to inspire and guide young learners in a vibrant educational environment. As a Lead Teacher, you will play a pivotal role for creating a safe, nurturing, Christ-centered, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment where children can grow academically, socially, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. The Lead Teacher plans and implements engaging learning experiences, supervises classroom staff, builds strong relationships with families, and ensures compliance with all licensing and accreditation standards. The Lead Teacher serves as a positive role model, demonstrating professionalism, teamwork, integrity, and a genuine love for children.
Classroom Leadership
- Plan and implement age-appropriate curriculum aligned with Virginia licensing requirements and the philosophy of CCDC.
- Foster a classroom environment that promotes learning through exploration, creativity, and play.
- Maintain a classroom that is safe, clean, organized, and welcoming.
- Observe, assess, and document each child's developmental progress.
- Adapt lesson plans to meet individual developmental needs.
- Maintain attendance, developmental records, incident reports, and classroom documentation.
Child Care & Safety
- Provide attentive supervision of children at all times.
- Maintain positive classroom management using appropriate guidance techniques.
- Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of every child.
- Follow all emergency procedures, health protocols, and child protection policies.
- Report suspected abuse or neglect in accordance with Virginia law and CCDC policies.
Family Partnerships
- Build trusting, respectful relationships with families.
- Communicate regularly regarding children's progress, behavior, and developmental milestones.
- Conduct parent conferences as scheduled.
- Respond professionally to family questions and concerns.
Program Excellence
- Maintain compliance with all state licensing regulations and CCDC policies.
- Participate in required professional development.
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and special events.
- Assist with center-wide activities and family events.
- Support the mission and values of First Baptist Church and CCDC.
Qualifications
- Associate degree (minimum two-year degree) in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Development, or a closely related field preferred.
- Minimum of two years of experience teaching young children in a licensed childcare or preschool setting preferred.
- Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
- Ability to pass all required background checks and Virginia licensing requirements.
